The Florida Certified Recovery Peer Specialist Exam is applied for and taken through the Florida Certification Board. This course allows those preparing for the exam to practice their test-taking skills across the domains covered by the state exam: Advocacy, Mentoring, Professional Responsibility, and Recovery Support. This course covers 30 practice questions with 4 multiple choice options to provide further critical thinking (there are only 3 options on the test). These test questions cover every competence domain.
You will also have access to an additional 60 questions as well as other study recourses via the course files. Locate the files button at the top of the course to download your resources. Much of the state exam and the National Certified Peer Specialist (NCPS) exam will overlap as they both cover the basic tenets of peer support. However, the NCPS exam will cover the navigation and general knowledge of Health Care Systems and will focus only on Mental Health (not substance use). You should be aware of federal laws that pertain to peer support for both the state and national exams. The national exam, however, will not cover state laws.
If you are looking for information that discusses the application/ certification process, these topics are discussed in our PSCFL | INTRODUCTION TO A CAREER IN PEER RECOVERY SERVICES course.
